Original version with German subtitles
DJANGO portraits the life of the world-famous jazz musician Django Reinhardt during the Second World War. While thousands of Sinti and Roma are being hunted and murdered in Europe, Django’s popularity keeps him safe until the National Socialists want to send him on tour through Germany. In a very impressive and personal manner, this movie shows the prosecution fueled downfall of a man, whose fate stands for the fate of many others.
Etienne Comar was born in France in 1965. He produced OF GODS AND MEN (2010) and TIMBUKTU (2014), which both won the César Award for Best Film. DJANGO is his debut as a director which opened the 67th Berlinale in 2017.
